Science Modules

SciTrek modules are  student-centered inquiry-based long term investigations provided to  elementary students in the Santa Barbara and surrounding areas.

SciTrek SBCC is currently focusing on the 2nd,  3rd, and 4th grade modules listed below.  But we are able to expand to provide science modules for 5th grade as well. We will also start secondary school programs soon as we are able.

General Program
1- mini module (1 day)
2 full length modules (6-8 days each)

        Example Module Schedule
Day 1: Observe a Phenomena/Generate  Variables/Generate Questions
Day 2: Design an Experiment
Day 3: Carry out Experiment (number of sessions depends on topic and grade level)
Day 4: Draw Conclusions/Make Poster
Day 5: Present Poster to Class
Day 6: Tie to Standards

5th Grade Modules

Depending on demand and number of student volunteers, we can add 4th grade modules on Wind turbines as well as 5th grade modules on Shadows or Chromatography. 

Secondary School Science Modules

Working with our colleagues at UCSB, we can also arrange for science modules for students in junior high and high schools. Reach out to us and we will be glad to support this type of request.
