Who is a Transfer-In Student

You are a Transfer-In student if you attended another college or university and are enrolling at SBCC to continue your education. Your completed coursework may be evaluated for credit toward a certificate or degree at SBCC, toward transfer or to meet prerequisites for classes at SBCC.   

  •  New transfer-in students are not required to meet with a counselor before registration.

Transfer-In Student Checklist

  1. Transcript Evaluation
  • Submit official transcripts from ALL previously attended colleges to Admissions and Records.
  • If you attended a California Community College, you can have your transcripts evaluated by the Transcript Evaluation Office (TEO). 
  • If you need a prerequisite evaluated submit your request to the Transcript Evaluation Office (TEO).

  1. Academic Counseling Appointments 
  • New transfers who are currently enrolled in fall classes can book an advanced appointment in Starfish (Starting Sept 2).
  • New transfers who will attend SBCC for summer ONLY, need to seek advising from their home institution.
  • New transfers who will attend SBCC for spring 2026 will be able to fill out the appointment request form starting November 2025. 

 

  1. What to Expect at Your Appointment

Counselors will:

  • Create a student educational plan (SEP).
  • Start the transcript evaluation process.

 

  1. Transcript Evaluation Process
  • If you attended a California Community College, your transcripts will be evaluated by the Transcript Evaluation Office (TEO)
  • It can take up to 3 months for non California Community College transcripts for specific courses requiring SBCC department review.

Important : For coursework completed outside the California Community College system, providing course syllabi can speed up the process. Math and English courses require syllabi for course evaluation.

We will begin appointment requests in November 2025 for Spring 2026.
